THURUNAKKARA POORAM

This temple is situated in the middle of the kottayam city near open ground Thirunakkara Maidanam

this is one of the old temples of kerala

The important  festival of this temple is the "Arattu Utsavam" lasting for ten days from the 1st of Meenam (March-April) which is attended by hundreds of thousands of people.

This Siva Temple built in the grand architectural style unique to Kerala,by the Maharajah of Tekkumkoor

Folk arts like Mayilattom, Velakali etc, are presented in the evening. Another major attraction is the Kathakali performances during the festival. Pakapooram is also another attraction

The temple built is traditional Kerala style of architecture is decorated with beautiful mural paintings and images of epic characters from the Hindu mythology
